Cannabis Regulatory Solutions is a Colorado MED Approved Responsible Vendor Training Provider.
We offer classes at 1200 Pearl Street Mall, Boulder CO 80302 nearly every Wednesday evening and Saturday morning. The cost of the course is $169 per person. Call for schedules, group discounts, and/or to set up a private session at your location.
The rules for the Responsible Vendor Program are found within MED Rules M 408 and R 407. The program itself is voluntary. However, Medical Marijuana Centers and Retail Marijuana Store owners who elect to participate in the program will be awarded a MED Certified "Responsible Vendor Designation." The designation reflects a commitment to operate at the highest level of customer safety and care while providing licensees with requisite knowledge to adhere to compliance mandates. As such, the designation represents not only a competitive advantage but helps owners in reducing regulatory and business risks.
A major benefit of becoming a Responsible Vendor is that should the state licensing authority initiate an administrative action against a licensee who has been designated a responsible vendor, the licensing authority shall consider the designation as a mitigating factor when imposing sanctions or penalties on the licensee. In other words, the designation can reduce the severity of penalties and sanctions such as fines and suspension. More complete information may be found within the statute itself, C.R.S. 12-43.3-1102.
The Responsible Vendor statute requires that each training program be both MED and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) reviewed and approved. Once approved, the name of the training provider will be included on the MED Responsible Vendor Program Provider List published on the Division's website. Medical Marijuana Center and Retail Marijuana Store Licensees should check the MED's Responsible Vendor Provider List to ensure that a chosen training provider is MED Approved prior to scheduling training.
To receive a Responsible Vendor designation all owners, managers, and staff involved in the selling or handling of marijuana and/or marijuana products must attend training by a MED certified training provider and successfully complete a comprehension exam with a score of 70% or better. For licensees to retain a Responsible Vendor designation, new employees must complete the course within 90 days of hire. All individuals must become re-certified every two years.
Training providers must adhere to a core curriculum established by the MED to ensure the responsible handling and transfer of marijuana and marijuana products through the promotion of uniform industry-wide safety, security, integrity, and transparency standards.
The program consists of the effects of marijuana on the human body and recognizing signs of impairment; sales to minors and pertinent Colorado marijuana laws; acceptable forms of identification and provisions for spotting and confiscating false IDs; as well as other important state laws affecting owners, managers, and employees including Local and State Licensing and Enforcement, compliance with marijuana Inventory Tracking Systems (METRC), health and safety standards, waste disposal, record-keeping, and many other applicable rules governing marijuana licensees.
